Principal’s Welcome

Merbein P-10 College officially commenced as a single P-10 school in January 2010 following the merger of three local primary schools with the local secondary college. Promises were made by State Government to regenerate all of the school’s facilities.  Following completion of the first Stage of construction in November, 2012, students from the four campuses combined to occupy the new buildings for the first time.

Merbein P-10 College has since established itself as a highly successful community school that serves our students and families well, with an average enrolment of around 650 students. This is made up of approximately 230 primary and 420 secondary students.

Since 2010, $20 m has been invested across the college to provide new and refurbished facilities.  The most recent capital works project (5.9 million) started in 2022 with the addition of a state-of-the-art Science Centre, which students are now able to utilise daily. The work has continued in 2023, with refurbished staff planning spaces, Flexible Learning Option, Art, Administration and Cafeteria planned for completion in early 2024.

Merbein P-10 College provides a positive culture based on values of Respect, Responsibility, and Quality (doing our best).   The school has implemented School Wide Positive Behaviours since 2012 which has provided a framework to embed our values in our daily interactions.  This approach has contributed significantly to the development of a safe, orderly and engaging learning environment, and we are proud of our inclusiveness and the positive relationships that exists between students and staff.

At Merbein P-10 College, we recognise that personal wellbeing is the key to academic, personal and social success.  To support the wellbeing of our students, the college provides various services, including Doctors-in-Schools, a highly skilled Wellbeing Team and Learning Centre Leaders, who support students at every year level across the college.

Based on a shared belief that students experience greater engagement and improved learning outcomes when they are empowered to take greater responsibility for their learning, the school provides a range of opportunities for students to voice their opinions.  This includes enabling students to contribute to the wider school community and to help shape the curriculum to drive learning.

In addition to our comprehensive academic program, Merbein P-10 College also offers VET programs and Work Place Learning opportunities for our older students.   The school also provides a comprehensive range of extra-curricular activities including sport, camps, performances and music.
